【摘要】:Determiningthetypeandamountofhydrocarbonimpuritiesremainingfromthemanufactureoftoluene,mixedxylenes,andp-xylenesusedaschemicalintermediatesandsolventsisoftenrequired.Thistestmethodissuitableforsettingspecificationsandforuseasaninternalqualitycontroltoolwheretheseproductsareproducedorareused.Typicalimpuritiesare:alkanescontaining1to10carbonsatoms,benzene,toluene,ethylbenzene(EB),xylenes,andaromatichydrocarbonscontainingninecarbonatoms.RefertoTestMethodD2306fordeterminingtheC8aromatichydrocarbondistributioninmixedxylenes.Purityiscommonlyreportedbysubtractingthedeterminedexpectedimpuritiesfrom100.00.However,agaschromatographicanalysiscannotdetermineabsolutepurityifunknownorundetectedcomponentsarecontainedwithinthematerialbeingexamined.ThistestmethodissimilartoTestMethodD2360,however,interlaboratorytestinghasindicatedabiasmayexistbetweenthetwomethods.Thereforetheuseriscautionedthatthetwomethodsmaynotgivecomparableresults.1.1Thistestmethodcoversthedeterminationofthetotalnonaromatichydrocarbonsandtracemonocyclicaromatichydrocarbonsintoluene,mixedxylenes,andp-xylenesbygaschromatography.Thepurityoftoluene,mixedxylenes,orp-xylenescanalsobecalculated.Calibrationofthegaschromatographicsystemisdonebytheexternalstandardcalibrationtechnique.Asimilartestmethod,usingtheinternalstandardcalibrationtechnique,isTestMethodD2360.1.2Totalaliphatichydrocarbonscontaining1through10carbonatoms(methanethroughdecanes)canbedetectedbythistestmethodatconcentrationsrangingfrom0.001to2.500weight%.1.2.1Asmallamountofbenzeneinmixedxylenesorp-xylenesmaynotbedistinguishedfromthenonaromaticsandtheconcentrationsaredeterminedasacomposite(see6.1).1.3Monocyclicaromatichydrocarbonimpuritiescontaining6through10carbonatoms(benzenethroughC10aromatics)canbedetectedbythistestmethodatindividualconcentrationsrangingfrom0.001to1.000weight%.1.4Indeterminingtheconformanceofthetestresultstoapplicablespecifications,resultsshallberoundedoffinaccordancewiththerounding-offmethodofPracticeE29.1.5ThevaluesstatedinSIunitsaretoberegardedasstandard.Nootherunitsofmeasurementareincludedinthisstandard.1.6Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.Forspecifichazardstatement,seeSection9.
